‘Children of female prisoners should not be made to work’
Sindh Minister for Education, Literacy and Criminal Prosecution, Pir Mazharul Haq expressed concern on Monday over the fact that the children of female prisoners are made to work rigorously by the jail administration.
During a visit to the women and juvenile prison, Haq said that he would write to Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza, so that these children could not be treated as prisoners. The minister also instructed EDO Education Hanif Kumbher to recruit one female teacher and two male teachers immediately for jail schools, and to provide free textbooks to the children of female prisoners. He praised the work of committee established under the supervision of Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam, as well as other welfare organisations which helped improve the environment of jails. http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=152148 |
