Islamabad: CDA to launch new bus service, says Elahi
ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to introduce an efficient bus service for residents of the federal capital following furious demonstrations in the twin cities against the rising public transport fares. A private TV channel quoted CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi as saying that the Authority had shelved the proposed projects of Rapid Mass Transit System and decided to launch CNG Bus Service instead. Elahi said the civic agency was conducting a feasible study of the project and would invite proposals from interested parties in a month’s time. Answering a question, he said, “It is our responsibility to provide safe, affordable and decent transport system to the people. Therefore we are seriously working on the project.” He added that CDA was working on the project from different angles adding the service would be run on non-profit basis. online
