Rs 1.5b to be spent on four new women varsities: Anwar
Lahore—Chairman of the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) Raja Muhammad Anwar has said that the provincial government will set up four new women universities at a cost of Rs 1.5 billion during current fiscal 2011-12.
These universities will be established in districts of Faisalabad, Sialkot, Multan and Bahawalpur to provide modern education and research facilities to girl students, he said. Raja Muhammad Anwar was talking to a ten-member women delegation of government teachers headed by Mrs Salma Ahmad who called on him at his office. The PEF Chairman briefed them about educational initiatives of the Punjab government and maintained that the government had prioritised the promotion of education. He said that Rs 13 billion were being spent on various welfare projects aimed at women’s well-being. “It will help women to play their due role in the national mainstream,” he said. Raja Anwar impressed upon women teachers to give special attention to the aspect of character building of students so that Pakistan could be led by educated and true leadership to improve the national image of Pakistan in the comity of nations with their dedication and hard work. |
