Outgoing DG’s bid to affect LDA probe
LAHORE – The outgoing Lahore Development Authority Director General, Abdul Jabbar Shaheen issued a directive to change an on-going inquiry against some blue-eyed officers of the Authority’s Engineering Branch just few hours before his transfer. According to his orders, Additional DG (Housing) Irfan Ali Bhatti would complete the inquiry against the officers allegedly involved in large-scale irregularities. The probe was earlier being conducted by Additional DG Hafiz Ehsanul Haq. It is worthy to mention here that ADG Haq was doing inquiry on the advice of the Chief Minister’s Inquiry Team and it was expected that a large number of the Engineering Branch staff would be held responsible for different irregularities. Under the directive issued by DG Shaheen, the following inquiries now may be affected: Irregularities in the construction of Main Boulevard (Gulshan Ravi) drain, Johar Town’s F2 Graveyard issue, irregularities in the installation of Biometric System in the LDA-owned buildings, LDA’s One-Window Cell construction scam, corruptions in purchase of computer instruments and decoration material for LDA Plaza, etc. Meanwhile, DMG Officer Noor-ul-Ameen Mengal, who belongs to District Chaghi, in Balochistan has been appointed DCO Lahore. He is the first DCO belonging to Balochistan in the history of Punjab. Earlier, he has served as DCO Gwadar and Additional Secretary Finance in Balochistan. Mengal has also worked as Political Assistant DG Khan and Special Secretary to Chief Minister Punjab. |
