CDA to get Rs1.19 billion for 11 development projects
Islamabad : The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will receive over Rs1.190 billion from the federal government under the Public Sector Development Authority (PSDP) for 11 development projects. As the budget document shows, there is no new development project in the PSDP for the federal capital.The project of construction of 106 family suites for the parliamentarians, which is expected to be completed during the coming financial year would receive Rs512.5 million. So far Rs2.412 billion out of total estimated cost of Rs2.908 billion have been spent on the project. The project of addition of third and fourth lanes of Kashmir Highway from Peshawar Morr to Golra Morr would receive Rs452.2 million.The other project, which would be getting government grant under PSDP include construction of second hangar at the Islamabad Heliport (Rs93.023 million), rehabilitation and replacement of 32 lifts at the Pak-Secretariat building (Rs20.1 million), construction of 16 Category-IV flats for AGPR in Sector G-9/2 (Rs1.7 million), security arrangement at the Parliament House building (Rs63.3 million), construction of official residence of Speaker in Sector F-5/2, air conditioning facility, installation of fire alarm system etc (Rs1.15 million), up-gradation and renovation of public address system in the Senate Hall (Rs16 million), installation of professional CCTV system in Senate Hall (Rs5.5 million). The CDA also executed construction of Charah Dam for Rawalpindi, but then it was transferred to the Punjab government. This project would now get Rs500 million.The newly created Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) would receive Rs791.5 million in the PSDP for 14 education and health projects in Islamabad. There is only one new project titled ‘Prime Minister’s special Initiative for Management of Dengue Fever and Pollen Allergy in Islamabad’, which would receive Rs39.5 million.Other main projects include establishment of cardiac surgery facilities at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) (Rs544.1 million), provision of 119 computer labs in educational institutions of Islamabad (Rs30 million), establishment of Federal Government College for Women Bara Kahu (Rs33 million), construction nursing schools at Federal Government Policlinic (Rs25.3 million), construction of female doctors hostel at Policlinic (Rs20.7 million and construction of additional academics block and renovation of old building of the Federal Government Girls Secondary School at Dhoke Gangal.Previously these projects were being executed by then ministries of health and education, which stood abolished with the implementation of 18th amendment in the constitution. |
