Business Community calls for timely completion of Metro Bus Project

Islamabad ,The local business community in a meeting at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry has shown great concerns over the slow pace of construction work on Metro Bus Project and called for taking measures for its timely completion as its delay is creating lot of problems for business activities and the citizens.

Addressing the meeting, Shaban Khalid, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry said that the Chairman, Metro Bus Project Committee during a visit to Chamber House had assured for completion of project two months before its target date. However, the current pace of slow construction work has dashed all hopes for its timely completion.

He many roads in Islamabad are closed owing to construction work on Metro Bus project due to which industrialists and traders are facing great problems in moving goods smoothly.

He said the schools have reopened after summer vacations, but due to closure of main arteries in the city, commuters have to face great inconvenience while people are seen stuck up in huge traffic jams on main roads during the rush hours.

Shaban Khalid said the whole city is dug up for this project and the prevailing rainy season has turned Islamabad into a mud-covered city that has made life difficult for travelers and pedestrians. He said the puddles emerged on many roads in Islamabad also pose serious risk to travelers, especially at night and there have been incidents of vehicles running into them.

He said keeping in view the current pace of work, it seems unlikely that the project would be completed on time and he urged upon the Metro Bus Project Committee as well as the Capital Development Authority to look into these problems and take urgent measures to speed up the pace of work for timely completion of this important project so that business activities could normalize again and the inconvenience being faced by the citizens could come to an end.
