CDA yet to act against violators
ISLAMABAD - Although the Deputy Commissioner CDA has cancelled allotment of 61 residential units during the last couple of years over non-conforming use yet the Authority has so far taken action against none of the influential violators.
A source within the Building Control Section (BCS) of the CDA informed that after decision of the DC CDA, the civic agency had the authority to vacate the said houses and take possession of the property. However, he said, the matter had been dumped in the files and no action had been taken during the past two years against the violators. Often DC CDA is blamed for not disposing of pending cases against the violators, but the factual story is the other way round; that the Authority is not implementing decisions of its own Deputy Commissioner. The fact given above well suggests how the number of residential quarters used for other purposes crossed the figure of 800. The CDA, if not conniving with the violators, have shut their eyes, thus further encouraging the violators to break its building bylaws. A high official in the BCS, when contacted in person, confirmed that the Deputy Commissioner CDA had cancelled allotment of 61 houses in various sectors of the capital city, but he refused to identify the same. |
