CDA to conduct 1st National Youth Peace Festival
LAHORE: The Chanan Development Association (CDA) with support of the United Nations Alliance of Civilisation (UNAoC) and Action-Aid Pakistan is going to conduct the first National Youth Peace Festival 2010 today (Wednesday) at Ali Auditorium, Ali Institute of Education. More than 500 young leaders from all over Pakistan, civil society activists and government officials are expected to participate in the event. The festival is a part of CDA’s National YouthPeace campaign which was launched earlier this year in all the provincial capitals of Pakistan. The CDA launched the National Youth Peace Festival on the occasion of International Peace Day observed on September 21st, CDA held a press conference at Lahore Press Club. CDA Executive Director Muhammad Shahzad Khan while speaking to the media said that the theme of the festival “Together, we are the solution” which was selected to promote national integrity amongst the young people living in different provinces. He added that the young people possess great ability to provide innovative solutions to old problems, and their potential needs to be channelised in a positive and constructive manner. He shared with the media that the CDA through its campaign had engaged more than 2,000 young people in Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar and Gilgit and trained them as young peace-builders. He also said that the first phase of CDA’s campaign was going to be concluded with the National Youth Peace Festival 2010.
