Pakistani Paper Unveils US Consulate's Close Ties with Jundollah
TEHRAN (FNA)- A Pakistani paper revealed that Raymond Davis, a US consular employee who appeared in court late in January for murdering two Pakistani nationals, has been in direct contact with several terrorist groups in Pakistan, including the anti-Iran Jundollah terrorist group. According to a report by professor Mohammad Ebrahim published in the Urdu language daily, Ausaf, a police probe into the phone record and sim cards of Davis's cell phone, along with his confessions, revealed that the diplomat has guided Jundollah's members in the Pakistani Baluchistan province. Investigations also showed that Davis has been involved in the murder of Chinese engineers in Gwadar and an attack on the Pakistani Army Garrison in Rawalpindi. The source said that the US national has also confessed to ties with other groups such as Lashkar-e-Jhangavi, Sepah-e-Sahaba, Balouch Liberation Army and another terrorist group. Raymond Davis appeared in court on January 28 charged with the murder of two motorcyclists who were shot dead in the Pakistani city of Lahore on January 27. According to eye witnesses, Raymond Davis took photos of the two men after they fell to the ground on being hit by bullets. Davis spoke in Urdu and told people who surrounded his car that he had acted in self-defense. Another person was run over and killed by a vehicle carrying Raymond Davis's colleagues as they came to his aid, police and witnesses have said. The US embassy in Islamabad said the man involved in the shooting was a consular official. Lahore's police chief, Aslam Tareen, said that Raymond Davis was employed on "security duties" in the consulate. He did not have diplomatic immunity and was not one of the foreign security personnel allowed to carry firearms, according to the Pakistani authorities. http://english.farsnews.com/newstext.php?nn=8911191573 |
