Exports of Rs1,722,691 million recorded in 10 months
ISLAMABAD: Exports in rupee term increased by 30.59 percent during July-April (2010-2011) as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
Exports during first ten months of current fiscal year stood at Rs 1,722,691 million as against Rs 1,319,176 million during the corresponding period of last year, showing an increase of 30.59 percent, according to provisional figures released by Federal Bureau of Statistics. Exports during April 2011 amounted to Rs 201,159 million as against Rs 213,102 million in March, 2011 and Rs.142,760 million during April, 2010 showing a decline of 5.60 percent over March, 2011 but an increase of 40.91 percent over April, 2010. Main commodities of exports during April, 2011 were cotton cloth (Rs.20,850 million), knitwear (Rs.16,342 million), bedwear (Rs.15,480 million), cotton yarn (Rs.14,411 million), readymade garments (Rs.14,348 million), rice others (Rs.9,316 million), art, silk and synthetic textile (Rs.6,831 million), petroleum products (excluding top naphta) (Rs.6,775 million), rice basmiti (Rs.6,514 million) and towels (Rs.6,005 million). On the other hand, imports during July-April (2010 - 2011) totalled Rs 2,758,527 million as against Rs.2,352,363 million during the corresponding period of last year showing an increase of 17.27 percent. Imports during April, 2011 amounted to Rs.274,757 million as against Rs 291,581 million in March, 2011 and Rs.253,131 million during April, 2010 showing a decrease of 5.77 percent over March 2011 but an increase of 8.54 percent over April, 2010. Main commodities of imports during April, 2011 were petroleum crude (Rs.37,843 million), petroleum products (Rs.19,467 million), palm oil (Rs.18,718 million), plastic materials (Rs.12,527 million), iron and steel (Rs.9,163 million), power generating machinery (Rs.7,398 million), electrical machinery and apparatus (Rs. 5,930 million), synthetic fibre (Rs.5,509 million), medicinal products (Rs.5,499 million) and raw cotton (Rs.5,489 million). |
