Lahore: Most people unaware of officials’ open courts
LACK of advertisement about open courts being held by Commissioner Lahore Division as well as district coordination officer (DCO) is resulting in a thin attendance of the complainants at these open courts.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Commissioner Lahore Division deals with the affairs of Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib districts but on Wednesday, only 33 complainants reached the Commissioner Office to lodge their complaints. While hearing the complaints, the Commissioner at an open court, solved a 20 years old pending property case of Abdul Ghafoor. Begum Shahida Parveen, a resident of Sangla Hill, Nankana Sahib complained to the Commissioner that the Tehsildar and local Patwari tampered with the papers of her property upon which the Commissioner issued show-cause notices to them and directed them that they should present complete record of the said property in the next open court. The Commissioner also issued show-cause notices to Gulberg Town officials for not retrieving the land of Muhammad Iftikhar Ahmed. The Commissioner also directed Chief Protocol Officer Sheikh Farid Ahmed to ensure presence of Revenue and other officers in their own offices during the timing of open court. He said he would not tolerate absence of government officials from their offices especially during the time of open court. Meanwhile, DCO Lahore, Sajjad Ahmed Bhutta, also held an open court in which only 48 people lodged their complaints. The DCO passed orders for immediate action on the complaints. Workers not getting minimum wage: The Working Women Organization (WWO) has criticised the government for not paying heed to fulfil promise about minimum wages, up to Rs 6,000, as announced by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. According to a press statement issued on Wednesday, the WWO said that it was a sad moment that the government was not paying attention to resolve the working class’ issues. It claimed that the government had not taken any practical step to implement decision of minimum wages for the workers in the country. http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=177517 |
