Laproscopy machines installed at Mayo Hospital
TWO new laproscopy machines worth Rs 11 million have been installed in the indoor operation theatres of Mayo Hospital. Two laproscopy machines have been installed in East and West Surgical Units. The doctors said that this latest technology was being used for the first time in Mayo Hospital while adding that laproscope was an instrument to minimal access surgery without giving a cut on the skin. On Thursday, a team of doctors, headed by Prof Dr Khalid Javed Abid and comprising Prof Dr Farah Asghar, Dr Muhammad Azeem and Dr Rana Sohail, conducted a successful laproscopic hysterectomy for uterus on a patient, Zaitoon Bibi, 45, in the West Surgical Operation Theatre. Earlier, the surgeons have also conducted surgeries of gallbladder in the East Surgical Ward by the use of this technology.
