NHA to complete over 20 bridges on priority Basis
Islamabad: While Addressing Executive Board Meeting of NHA, Chairman National Highway Authority (NHA), Syed Muhammad Ali Gardezi said that 20 to 25 highway and bridges schemes will be completed by next year. Rs. 2.3 billion more have been paid to NHA, which will further improve the matter of payments to the contractors.
The Executive Board in its meeting accorded approval of award of works to M/s NESPAK for consultancy services for design review and construction supervision of four-lane Multan-Khanewal Motorway (57 km) at cost of more than Rs. 287 million. The project is underway with assistance of Islamic Development Bank. Likewise amended PC-1 was also recommended by the Board for approval from CDWP/ECNEC for construction of road network for new Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad. The project will be executed in three-Year time frame at cost of Rs. 5591.89 million. The meeting also agreed for procurement of Lab Equipment accessories for highway Rehabilitation Project at cost of US & 59,458. The meeting agreed in principle for dualization of flyover at Nagshah Chowk Multan crossing from Multan-Shujaabad. The Project will pave way for Agro-industrial development besides ensuring safe and non stop traffic movement. The meeting accorded approval for supervision consultancy services regarding construction of bridge across River Indus on Karakorum Highway at Thakot. Various aspects relating to PC-1 for construction of Benazir Bhutto Bridge across River Sutlej Linking Chishtian with Burewala, revised PC-1 for construction of Moosa Pak Shaheed Bridge at Aimenwala across River Sutlej in District Bahawalpur and consultancy services for construction of five bridges on Gilgit- Sakardu Road. |
