LDA approves nine uplift projects



THE Lahore Development Authority (LDA) approved nine development projects at the estimated cost of Rs. 1.105 billion for different areas of the city.The approval was given at a meeting of the governing body headed by Administrator/DCO/ Chairman LDA Noor-ul-Amin Mengal.

The chairman urged the concerned departments to complete projects within the given time period and ensure the quality of material through strict monitoring. DG LDA Ahad Khan Cheema and officers from the TEPA, WASA, LDA and CDGL were also present at the meeting.

The detail of the projects consists of construction of a road from Jauhar Town, E-Block, to Doctors’ Hospital worth Rs. 235.327 million, improvement and widening of a road from Pekywal Junction (Flower Shop) to Campus Canal Bridge worth Rs. 93.74 million, improvement and widening of Al-Madina Road in Sector B-I, Quide-e-Azam Town Lahore worth Rs.192.862 million, improvement and carpeting of a road from Liaqat Chowk to Khaarak Drain in Sabzazar Scheme worth Rs. 35 million, provision of street-lights at Jinnah Avenue from Shaukat Khanum Hospital Chowk to Raiwind Road worth Rs. 68.1 million, construction of road along Khhamba Distributary from Nursery Chowk to Southern Bypass in Jauhar Taown worth Rs. 150 million, construction of bridge at Chhota Ravi drain near model bazaar Gujjarpura worth Rs. 41.59 million, rehabilitation/improvement of PECO Road (from PECO Roundabout to Lahore Bridge Firozpur Road) worth Rs. 202.9 million and traffic circulation plan at Laal Pul Intersection through widening and improvement of the Canal Bank Road.

emergency centres: Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has established 28 emergency centres throughout Lahore beside 24/7 helpline 1139. The company’s GIS (geographical information system) updates every 6th hour about weather which helps workers to be ready for any emergency situation.All the manpower is rearranged in accordance with emergency plan of monsoon. Sanitary workers are deployed in three shifts, 60 per cent of the workers work in the first shift and 20 per cent each in the second and the third shifts.
