ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the CDA Development Working Party (CDADWP) at CDA headquarters on Tuesday discussed the metro bus project. CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal presided over the meeting while the Rawalpindi commissioner, the CDA board members and the officers concerned attended the meeting. After discussions and deliberations, the CDADWP approved a part of the metro-bus project in the jurisdiction of Islamabad. It was decided in the meeting that the natural beauty, environment and the landscape of Islamabad would be protected and preserved. It was also decided that 1% of the cost would be reserved for the protection of environment and the horticulture in Islamabad. It was decided in the meeting that the 14 kilometre stretch of the metro-bus project would be constructed in Islamabad. It was further informed that 14 bus stops would be constructed in this project. This public service project would provide the state-of-the-art travelling facilities to the residents of the twin cities. The project is expected to be completed by the end of this year. CDA chief to inaugurate tree plantation campaign tomorrow: Chairman Capital Development Authority Maroof Afzal will formally inaugurate Spring Tree Plantation campaign by CDA at Mehran Gate of Fatima Jinnah Park F-9 on March 12. Senior officials of Capital Development Authority including Board Members, people from different walks of life including students of different educational institutions, representatives of traders, NGO’s and civil society will also be present at inauguration ceremony. According to Member Engineering and Environment Sanaullah Aman, Capital Development Authority will plant 0.6 million plants in the city during the approaching Tree Plantation Drive. Along with residential sectors of the Capital City, Spring Plantation will be conducted on major avenues of the city and in catchment areas of Margallah Hills and Simly Dam, he added. Capital Development Authority has arranged the plants in a huge number and the Authority envisages the mass participation in the upcoming plantation drive from students of different educational institutions, representatives of traders, NGO’s and civil society and citizens at large. CDA officials discuss complaints against officers: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Maroof Afzal presided over a meeting at Capital Development Authority Headquarters on Tuesday to discuss the pending inquiries against the Capital Development Authority officers/officials. The Chairman during the meeting was briefed about the current status of the pending inquiries of various categories against the CDA officers/officials. It was informed in the meeting that Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) is investigating 21 cases against CDA officers/officials while 93 departmental enquiries are also in process. In addition to the pending departmental and FIA cases, there are also inquiries pending which were initiated in the light of recommendations of Judicial Commission constituted by Islamabad High Court. The Chairman was informed that in these inquiries some Inquiry Officers were appointed by CDA, while in some cases Inquiry Officers were appointed by Establishment Division. All the cases correspond to previous administrations’ periods. The Chairman on the occasion directed the concerned authorities to have correspondence with Inquiry Officers of Establishment Division for speedy disposal of the inquiries, while he directed the Capital Development Authority Inquiry officers to compile reports about the pending inquiries within a month.
