Chinese group expresses interest in infrastructure projects
LAHORE -A delegation of a Chinese construction company Xinjiang Beixin Roads and Bridge Group, led by its vice president Shi Dexiang, met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here on Monday and expressed interest in investment in infrastructure projects in Punjab.
Provincial Minister for Communication & Works Tanveer Aslam Malik, Secretary Communication & Works, Secretary Housing, Managing Director Punjab Metro Bus Authority and Director General LDA were also present on the occasion. Talking to the Chinese delegation, the Chief Minister said that due to solid policies of Muslim League-N government, led by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the friendly relations between Pakistan and China have turned into useful economic ties. He said that as a result of excellent policies of PML-N government, the confidence of foreign investors has been restored and several Chinese companies are working in energy, transport, infrastructure and other sectors in Pakistan. He said that all out facilities are being provided to foreign investors in the country. He said that a number of infrastructure projects have been started in the province and underpasses and overhead bridges are being constructed in big cities so that modern infrastructure could be provided to the citizens for travel. The Chief Minister welcomed the show of interest by Xinjiang Beixin Roads and Bridge Group in investment in infrastructure sector. Vice President of the Chinese group, Shi Dexiang said that his group is ready to cooperate with Punjab government in infrastructure sector and all out assistance would be provided for the development of Pakistan. He said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s style of work is unique and impressive. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting on Monday which reviewed various proposals for the improvement of public health facilities in the province. Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique, Members Provincial Assembly Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Chaudhry Arshad Javed, Chairman Planning & Development, Secretary Health and other concerned officers were present. The Chief Minister said that steps are being taken for providing modern healthcare facilities in the province and government is spending billions of rupees for development of health sector. He said that a modern 50-bed hospital has been constructed in district Muzaffargarh of South Punjab with the cooperation of Turkey. He said that free of cost medical facilities would be provided to the poor patients in the hospital. He said that state-of-the-art machinery has been installed in the hospital which will be run with the cooperation of private sector. The Chief Minister said that the hospital constructed for the people of South Punjab with the cooperation of Turkey is a gift of Turk government and would result in provision of modern treatment facilities to the people of this region. |
