Rawalpindi to have ‘2 more hospitals’
The Punjab government is giving top priority to development projects in Rawalpindi and the project to initiate work on two hospitals in the city is in its final phase, Member National Assembly Muhammad Hanif Abbasi said here Saturday.

Speaking at the annual parents day function of Foundation School here, MNA Hanif Abbasi said the provincial government is striving to undertake development projects, particularly in the health and education sectors.

Abbasi said the hospitals, one for cardiology, would be constructed next to Rawalpindi Medical College, while another for dialysis would be set up at Farooq-e-Azam Road to provide excellent healthcare to the people of Rawalpindi and adjoining areas.

He said the Punjab government has launched the Rs16 billion Elevated Expressway project to be constructed over Murree Road to ease the sufferings of motorists and to cut fuel costs and time.

He said on behalf of the Punjab government, he is also looking after the administration of educational institutions in the city, and urged the provincial

government to release more funds to carry out projects in this sector.

Hanif Abbasi appreciated the spirit of the young students of Foundation School that had chosen ‘Peace’ as the main theme of the function.

He said those, who are accusing Pakistan of abetting terrorism, are in fact themselves supporting such elements. He urged the gathering to understand the real meaning of Islam that teaches tolerance, patience and love for humanity, and could help counter the acts of violence and terrorism.

He pointed that the tableau, presented by the young children, realistically portrayed how the gruesome impact of suicide bombings and terrorism is damaging the very fabric of society and stressed the need for a united stance on the issue. The impact of the recent wave of terrorism in the country was evident from the presentations by students of different classes, who through songs and tableaus, highlighted the dangers faced by people, which could be tackled by forging unity.

Hanif Abbasi gave away prizes to students who showed outstanding results. Principal Madiha Imran and School Administrator Mr Shoaib presented the annual school report and the achievements the school had made in the matriculation and Cambridge examinations.
