Punjab: Indoor patients receive free medicines at govt. hospitals

PUNJAB Health Department has, in the light of the of Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif’s orders, ensured free treatment and provision of free medicines to indoor patients in the government hospitals.

According to a handout here on Thursday, Health Department spokesman reacting to the Young Doctors Association call for keeping the main drug store open round the clock in government hospitals to ensure provision of medicines to the patients without any delay, said that the hospital administration had procured the stock of all necessary medicines according to their budget and requirements.

He said these medicines were issued to every ward according to the prescribed treatment chart of the patients.

The spokesman further said that in the emergency departments of the hospitals, sufficient stock of medicines was always available for those patients who arrived in late hours. “There seems no logic to keep open the main store at night,” he added.
