Hindrances in Maraglla Avenue Project removed: CDA
Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Maroof Afzal said that CDA has removed all hurdles and resolved all issues which were hindering the pace of development work on Maraglla Avenue Project and construction work on the project will be restarted right after Eidul Fitr in full swing. Afzal said this while chairing a high level meeting at CDA headquarters. Member (Administration and Estate) Amer Ali Ahmed, Member (Engineering) Shahid Sohail, project director and officers of other relevant formations were also present in the meeting. Afzal directed the project director to complete remaining construction work with full zeal and at the earliest as all the obstacles hindering the pace of work on the said project have been removed. The CDA chairman said that Margalla Avenue project should be completed on priority basis as it is very important in providing easy access to new sectors like C-13, C-14, C-15, C-16 and particularly to D-12 from GT Road and Motorway in future. He said that this avenue would be extended and linked to other major avenues and roads of Islamabad in future. He further said that CDA would utilise all available resources for early completion of this important avenue as this project would be helpful in reducing traffic burden on the roads and in flourishing business activities in Islamabad. On this occasion the CDA chairman was apprised that this project was launched to provide an easy access to the commuters coming from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Motorway and other cities to Islamabad. He was further apprised that total cost of the project is Rs 588 million. He was informed that Maraglla Avenue is 8.5 kilometers long with nine culverts; two lanes of 24 feet on each side and 20 feet median would be constructed between each side. The chairman was further informed that despite all hurdles, 53 percent work on the project has already been completed and remaining work would be completed soon after its start. |
