CDA to resume development work in six sectors
ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to expedite the development work stalled in six sectors.
An official statement issued on Sunday said tenders for awarding contract for construction of major roads in I-12 would be opened on January 15. The project would cost Rs358 million. The decision to resume the development work was taken at a meeting chaired by the CDA chairman, Maroof Afzal. He directed the engineering wing to expedite the development work. After the construction of roads in Sector I-12 other development work would be initiated and the allottees would be handed over the plots, the CDA chairman said. He also instructed the engineering wing to ensure completion of development work in Park Enclave Housing Project. The work will cost Rs1,240 millions. An official informed the CDA chairman that bidders were being prequalified for development of Sector I-15. The chairman said that the authority would complete the remaining development work in sectors I-14, I-16 and D-12. He said that installation of street sign boards was in progress in I-12. Besides the development of stalled sectors, new sectors would also be opened, to overcome the shortage of housing units in Islamabad, he added. Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed informed the meeting that in order to eradicate encroachments within the I-12 and from the buffer zone between sector D-12 and D-13, a boundary wall will be constructed with an estimated cost of Rs10 million. Mr Ali Ahmed further informed the CDA chairman that the Sector I-14 plot owners who were affected by the layout plan, had been allotted alternative plots through balloting in Sector I-12.
