Islamabad: CDA Board allows boundary wall around Markaz F-8 courts

The CDA Board members in a meeting here on Wednesday allowed the construction of a boundary wall around the District & Sessions Courts as well as the offices of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration at Markaz F-8.

CDA Board Secretary Nadeem Akbar Malik told ‘The News’ that the matter was put before the participants of the meeting by the Deputy Director-General (Planning-II) who said that the PC-1 for the project was already finalised therefore the CDA Board members should grant the permission for the construction of a boundary wall.

Another important issue put before the CDA Board was that of the claims of SF Construction Company for the refund of charges incurred on hiring of machinery for construction work in sectors G-11/3 and G-11/4.

The issue was put forth in the meeting by a committee headed by the CDA member (planning) for approval. The participants of the meeting recommended that the report presented by the committee headed by the member (planning) should be forwarded to the member (engineering) who should review the case in the light of the findings put before the CDA Board today (Thursday) and submit his recommendations on the issue within two weeks.

Another important decision taken in the CDA Board meeting was to relocate the offices of the Directorate of Health Services of the CDA, at present located in Jinnah Super Market facing Sector F-7/2 to the Iqbal Hall in Sector G-7. “The CDA Board felt that the Directorate of Health Services could be accommodated easily at the new location. The plot, at present being occupied by the directorate, could be disposed through public auction, a step which will generate a sizeable amount of money for the CDA,” Nadeem Akbar Malik added.

Regarding the issue of consultancy services for detailed engineering design and construction or supervision of underpasses or grade separation intersections at the junction of Jinnah Avenue with the Faisal Avenue, the 7th Avenue (on its principal road alignment) and the Shaheed-e-Millat Road, the CDA Board authorised the Member (FA) to examine these claims and decide the matter on his own discretion.

The CDA Board also granted permission to issue a ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) for setting up a petrol pump to Phulgraan Petroleum Service on the Simly Dam Road.

CDA Board secretary said, “In the past this road was not even considered a ‘road’ by the CDA. However, because of the growing population in the area the status of this ‘passage’ has been changed to as a ‘road’ and as such the NOC for setting up a Petrol Pump has been granted by the CDA Board meeting,” he added.

The meeting also approved the case of relocation of a plot number 249-I in Sector G-10/4 where a mosque has encroached upon some part of the ‘Mauve Area’ to construct a site for offering funeral prayers as well as ablution. The secretary to the CDA Board conceded that it was an encroachment, but keeping in view the sensitivity of the matter the CDA Board decided to grant permission for relocation of the plot.

The board also granted approval for hiring a consultant to prepare design of the official residence for the chairman of the Senate of Pakistan. The director (Architecture) has been directed by the board to proceed in the matter expeditiously. There were a number of items concerning land and property matters on the Agenda of the CDA Board meeting. However, because of the absence by the Member (Estate) Brigadier ® Asad Munir, all those issues were deferred for the next board meeting.
