Punjab: Govt likely to form task forces against Qabza Groups
* CM’s Secretariat officials say Shahbaz Sharif to be chairman of provincial task force
By Anwer Hussain Sumra LAHORE: The Punjab government is likely to constitute task forces at the provincial and district levels to take action against people who have taken over government and private land, sources within the Chief Minister’s Secretariat told Daily Times on Wednesday. They said that Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif would be the chairman of the provincial task force and the district co-ordination officers (DCOs) would act as chairmen of district task forces. They said that the chief minister would nominate a chairman of Lahore Task Force separately and the DCO concerned would work as its member. They said that the 28-member provincial task force would consist of the Punjab Law and Revenue ministers, chief secretary, a senior Broad of Revenue member, various administrative secretaries, inspector general (IG) of police, Anti-Corruption Establishment director general, police and revenue officers, and parliamentarians. They said that the Home secretary would act as the force’s secretary. They said that 13 members, including Revenue officers, police officers, parliamentarians and notable citizens of the district concerned, would comprise each district task force. Public complaints: The sources said that the task forces would also hear the people’s complaints regarding land-grabbing issues. They said that the Broad of Revenue had provided lists of land grabbers to the government. They said that the task forces would ensure that the retrieved land was given to original owners, adding that cases would be registered against land grabbers. http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...008_pg13_7 |
