Karachi: ‘DHA to improve new drainage system’

A technical committee had been formed which would identify the particular areas in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) where rainwater still accumulates after monsoon rains, Administrator, DHA, Brig Khalid Tirmizi, said on Thursday during a meeting of the board of the Clifton Cantonment Board (CBC).

Tirmizi said that the committee would recommend appropriate measures to further enhance the efficacy of the new drainage system. All improvement measures would be taken before the advent of the next monsoon season by DHA and CBC including revamping the existing sewerage system to prevent any chance of flooding or rainwater accumulation, he added.

The board meeting, presided over by Brig Tirmizi, who is also President of the CBC, was also attended by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) CBC Zeenat Ahmed.

Brig Tirmizi said that DHA and CBC must work hand in glove to effectively respond to the needs of the residents.
