Minister asks car makers to cut prices in 10 days
Staff Report ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo on Wednesday asked car manufacturers and vendors to reduce car prices within 10 days. During a meeting with various car manufacturers and vendors, the federal minister for Industries and Production expressed concern over increasing car prices, black marketing and non-availability of cars in the country. The federal minister directed the car manufacturers to cut prices within the stipulated time and also asked that they ensure the availability of cars in the open market. He also directed that car spare parts should be manufactured according to the timeframe agreed with the government. The federal minister said the country's elected government and the ministries concerned would do everything possible to ensure the auto industry's growth. He said the ministry respected industrialists and would protect their interests. "I feel the public is furious over the behaviour of the auto industry. Therefore, the auto industry must amend its ways and implement changes to address the problems of the public within the given time," the federal minister said. http://dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?pag...2009_pg1_9 |
