‘Pak made electric appliances much in demand in Lanka market’
KARACHI: The country’s electronic goods retain a good demand in the Sri Lankan market which has a dearth of cheap and good quality electronic items, said Sri Lankan Consul General VS Sidath Kumar in a meeting held recently with the members of Karachi Electronic Dealers Association.
Kumar said Pakistan is the centre of quality electronic goods and its reasonably-priced items can attract a good market in his country. He said although there has been a 70 per cent increase in trade after signing the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Pakistan and India, there is still more potential to explore. He said the Karachi Electronics Dealers Association’s cooperation is also required in order to boost bilateral relations. Besides, Pakistani markets can also sell Sri Lankan saver bulbs and high quality crockery, he suggested. He said Sri Lankan fertiliser can also help improve farm produce in Pakistan. Speaking on the occasion, KEDA President Idrees Memon said Pakistan is already importing electronic products especially electrical switches from Sri Lanka and the bilateral trade can be further strengthened by exporting goods listed under the FTA like fans, burners, baking ovens, room coolers, refrigerators and washing machines. http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=209740 |
