PTI Claims Exposing Garment City Scam
PTI Claims Exposing Garment City Scam
LAHORE - A delegation of owners of land proposed by the government for garments city on Wednesday met with PTI Punjab President Ejaz Chaudhry, General Secretary Dr Yasmin Rashid and Secretary Information Andleeb Abbas. The delegation members conveyed their grievances to office bearers of PTI. On the occasion, Ejaz Chaudhry said that the government was planning to grab 1475 acres of best agriculture land of the country for the garment city, adding, that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s plan under the name of the garment city was actually for grabbing some of the most fertile agriculture land at Sahoo Ki Maliyan & Bhamb. He said this land was famous for having the highest fertility for dairy and fish products as it produces 168,000 litres of milk per month and fish. He said that the PML-N government was famous for taking over many of such areas in the past and turning them into disasters like in Faisalabad 3600 acres of land was reserved for garments city and the work suspended, 400 acres in Muridke and 100 acres in Burewala was reserved for agriculture university campus where no construction was done so far. Dr Yasmin Rashid said that this was a clear robbery on public property especially on the earnings of farmer who were already the most poor and neglected part of the society. She said not only this land was used but it was brought at a very low price and which meant that all this profit was going to go into the pockets of CM and his friends. Andleeb Abbas said that CM Shahbaz Sharif was very fond of making paper projects and branding them and deceiving the public by making them believes that it was for their benefits. She said that schemes like yellow cab, Sasti roti and Ashiana were examples of how billions had been wasted. She said PTI would support the case in the court against the CM and would carry out protest within the assembly and on the streets if this project was not withdrawn. |
