Efforts underway to complete construction, expansion in time

Monday, April 21, 2014 - Islamabad—Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Mr. Maroof Af zal visited Kashmir Highway to witness the ongoing development and expansion work there. The Chairman particularly inspected the progress of ongoing construction work of six bridges on Kashmir Highway. The Chairman further viewed the ongoing carpeting work on Kashmir Highway.

The Chairman on the occasion directed the Project Director Kashmir Highway to expedite the construction work of the six bridges on this vital inter-provincial highway. He further directed to complete the allied construction works also well in time.

The construction work on Kashmir Highway should be completed within stipulated time frame without compromising on quality and standard of work.

The landscaping and beautification work should also be carried out simultaneously to save time. State-of-the-art material and expertise should be used for the project. Alternate passages should be provided to the commuters with installed signboards to maintain the smooth and hazard free flow of traffic during the construction work.

The Chairman on the occasion was briefed by the Project Director. He informed that keeping in view the significance of Kashmir Highway, the construction and expansion work is being carried out expeditiously.

Two out of six bridges have been completed while the construction work for the bridge over the railway line has also been initiated after getting designs from Pakistan Railway.

The Chairman was further told that two bridges along south of Kashmir Highway including one opposite to CDA weekly bazaar and the other opposite to CDA MPO Directorate have been completed while the bridges in the north are at the verge of completion. He was also told that recent spells of rain slowed the pace of work but enthusiastic efforts are underway to ensure in time completion of the construction and expansion work on Kashmir Highw
