CDA to shift proposed slaughterhouse to I-11
Islamabad - Capital Development Authority (CAD) has decided to change the site of the first-ever proposed slaughterhouse in the federal capital from sector I-9 to sector I-11 after objection of the residents.
The decision to change the site was taken in a CDA Board meeting held days back. Sources in the CDA told The Nation that the slaughterhouse would be constructed on three adjacent plots, measuring 64 kanals at Faqeer Aipie Road in Sector I-11, which were reserved for cold storages. Until now, the capital city was missing the facility. CDA had earlier planned to construct the slaughterhouse in Sector I-9 but the residents opposed the move as detrimental to environment. The sources said that design of the slaughterhouse has been prepared in the light of modern slaughterhouses in Lahore and Sialkot.
On the other hand, CDA management has ordered to stop monthly salary and allowances of all those officers (BS-16 and above) who failed to submit their educational documents for verification within due date of September 10, 2015.
In this context Human Resource Development (HRD) Directorate has been directed to compile the list of all the officers who have not submitted their degrees to the authority and forward the list to the Accounts Directorate so that the monthly pay of the officers could be stopped with immediate affect. The officers would not get the salary due on October 1, 2015, CDA said. Strict action under the prevailing rules has also been ordered against the officers who have not submitted their educational certificates in addition to the stoppage of pay.
The sources in the CDA said that 900 officers have so far furnished their educational certificates/documents for verification while over 200 are yet to comply with the orders. CDA has 1149 officers on its strength.
Meanwhile, CDA management has constituted a three-member committee to conduct physical audit of employees working in the Authority on daily wages, muster roll and work charge basis. The committee comprised Ishrat Taj Warsi (Director), Junaid Ibrahim (Director) and Deputy Financial Advisor, Faisal Saeed Cheema. The committee will physically check the original documents, National Identity Card, educational and other documents of daily wagers, muster roll and work charge employees, working in different formations of the authority, in addition to confirm their physical presence in the offices particularly that of the field staff. The committee has been directed for immediate completion of physical audit so that ghost employees could be identified.
CDA has also decided to carry out repair, maintenance and up-gradation of all the 38 existing water filtration plants in Islamabad. An immediate survey for identification of sites to install more water filtration plants in populated residential areas and busy shopping centres of the city is also being launched. In this connection, Water Management Wing has been directed to submit a comprehensive plan within two days so that repair and maintenance work could be started at the earliest. This decision was taken during a meeting held at the CDA Headquarters to review water supply situation in Islamabad. The meeting reviewed the steps taken by the Authority for immediate repair/maintenance and improvement in operational system of water filtration plants in order to ensure clean drinking water to the residents of Islamabad. Water Management Wing has also been directed to install more filtration plants in busy business centres and densely populated areas after a detailed survey of Islamabad. The wing has also been directed to submit estimated cost for installing new filtration plants so that necessary funds could be made available.
