Islamabad: CDA plans six lanes for Faisal Avenue
ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to widen Faisal Avenue into six lanes.
The project would be executed soon after the construction of loops and slip roads at Zero-Point Interchange, a CDA official told Online on Tuesday. The Avenue would be made six-lane wide from Zero-Point to Faizabad Interchange, he said, adding Kashmir Highway would be further be extended to five lanes from Peshawar Mor to 7th Avenue. Two kilns issued notices: Two brick kilns adjacent to Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Airport were issued orders to stop operation for the sake of environment protection. Sources said one kiln owner had got a stay order against suspension of its operation. Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry made a comprehensive plan of shifting smoke-emitting kilns out of the city, realising that smoke-emitting brick kilns near the airport were causing air pollution. According to a survey of Pakistan Environment Protection Agency (Pak-EPA), nearly 50 brick kilns in Rawalpindi and Islamabad were creating air pollution at an alarming rate. app http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...009_pg11_5 |
