CDA announces 50 percent rebate on property tax
ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced 50 percent rebate on payment of property tax to owners of self-occupied houses built on up to 250sq-yard plots. According to the rules and regulations, the revenue directorate of the civic authority would give 50 percent relief to owners of the self-occupied houses. However, if the owners have rented out their homes, they would have to pay 100 percent property tax. One residential house, flat or apartment occupied by the owner/allottee or his family would have to pay 50 percent of the tax. In the case of an apartment or residential house belonging to a widow who owns no other built-up property anywhere in Pakistan, 100 percent exemption will be given and this will also be applicable for minor, sons and unmarried daughter of the widow after her death. The CDA has also requested the taxpayers for timely payment of property tax and other arrears to avoid the monthly surcharge of 1.5 percent. It is pertinent to mention here that the property tax is issued before August 15 every year. Owner may contact the CDA Directorate of Revenue for duplicate bills in case of non-receipt or visit the authority’s website, http://www.cda.gov.pk. Multi-unit buildings are billed on pro-rate basis and five percent rebate is allowed on payment of current tax up to September 30. |
