Islamabad-Rawalpindi Metro set for Inauguration
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurated Islamabad-Rawalpindi metro bus project . It is learnt that a dedicated 23 kilometre long signal-free track has been constructed between Islamabad Secretariat and Saddar Rawalpindi with 24 stations.
All these stations are well-equipped with modern facilities to facilitate the commuters of twin cities. Ticketing booths, escalators and overhead bridges have already been constructed at the stations for the convenience of the commuters. The project has been completed at a cost of around Rs44 billion, which was shared by federal government and Punjab government. It is disclosed that on initial basis, 60 buses will ply the route and around one hundred and fifty thousand commuters will get benefit from this service. It is a wonderful project initiated by government to enable middle class people to arrive at their destinations on time at affordable fare. |
