Work on Gulberg-Motorway Elevated Road To Start Soon
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Wednesday presided over a high-level meeting in which progress on infrastructure projects were reviewed.
Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that modern mass transit meant quick development and more opportunities of employment. He said that a project of elevated expressway from Main Boulevard Gulberg to Motorway had been designed and work on the project would start soon. "Completion of this 10.7km-long expressway will result in smooth flow of traffic," he said and directed the authorities concerned to complete the project within stipulated time. Provincial Ministers Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Khawaja Salman Rafique, Planning and Development chairman, Punjab Mass Transit Authority managing director, communication and works secretary, finance secretary, Bank of Punjab president, Lahore Division commissioner, mayor and concerned officials attended the meeting. He alleged that previous leaders had plundered national resources ruthlessly and filled their wallets in the name of development projects. "However, Pakistan has now embarked on the road of prosperity under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif," he claimed. "We will continue our journey without paying heed to unjustified criticism of those who have no interest in the well-being of a common man," he said. He challenged that no one could prove corruption of even a single penny in the development projects being carried out in the province. "Public service is our mission and we will continue it till we breathe last."
