Swat situation: Kayani raises issue of Kabul intervention with McKiernan

ISLAMABAD (February 03 2009): General David McKiernan, the Nato commander in Afghanistan, Monday held an important meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaque Pervaiz Kyani to discuss regional security issues particularly Pak-Afghan border situation. A TV channel reported that the two military leaders exchanged views over the war against terrorism and the situation at Pak-Afghan border area.

Chief of Army Staff stressed the need for more co-operation on the issue of war against terrorism. The matter of cross border infiltration was raised during the meeting. Pakistan Army chief raised the issue of Afghanistan intervention in Swat and informed the Nato Commander about the details of the people who were arrested with arms. According to a private television channel, Pakistan Army Chief told General McKiernan that the infiltration from Afghanistan if not stopped, it will affect the war against terrorism.
