President meets leading industrialists
KARACHI (July 08 2008): President Pervez Musharraf has called upon the industrialists to help spur the process of industrialisation, investment and jobs creation in the country. He was talking to a delegation of leading industrialists and chairmen of industrial estates, which called on him at the Governor's House here on Monday. Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan was also present on the occasion.
Later, the President's spokesman Major General Rashid Qureshi (Retd) informed the media that the members of the delegation briefed the President about the country's economy as well as the environment in which the businesses are being carried out and the problems that they were facing. The members of the delegation also came up with the recommendations as to how the improvements could be brought about. The President lauded the efforts of the industrialists towards improving the economy of the country, for the provision of employment opportunities, which would lead to poverty alleviation and improving the income of the people. He said the big industrialists should speed up their efforts in this very direction to help implement the government's plan for tackling the problem of poverty as well as the provision of the job opportunities. The President also assured the delegation that their recommendations towards improvements in business environment, employment generation and industrial expansion, would be conveyed to the government. The members of the delegation informed the President that in the year 1999 there were 17 units at the Nooriabad Industrial Estate whereas this number has now increased to 70. http://www.brecorder.com/index.php?id=765898 |
