US embassy suspends visa service in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD (April 10 2009): US embassy has announced to suspend its visa service in Islamabad on Friday, a private TV channel reported. According to the report, Embassy spokesman said that "heightened security" is prompting the suspension of routine consular services on Friday at the US Embassy in capital.
Spokesman Lou Fintor declined to give any more information on what led to the security concern in Islamabad. He said the US consulates in Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar will be open on Friday. Fintor says while regular consular services, such as visa processing for Pakistani nationals, wont be available in the capital on Friday, the embassy still will be able to provide emergency services to Americans. http://www.brecorder.com/index.php?id=22262 |
