Lahore: Police ask people to keep original ID cards
CAPITAL City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Pervez Rathore has appealed to the citizens of Lahore to keep their original Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) with them while moving in the city.

The CCPO also directed the police officials deputed at all pickets to check the cards thoroughly. The CCPO requested the citizens to cooperate with police in this regard. Muhammad Pervez Rathore urged the citizens of Lahore to keep their morale high because Lahore police were the force of martyrs and Ghazis which would ensure their protection even at the cost of their own lives.

The CCPO requested people to keep a vigilant eye on their surroundings and inform the police without delay about any suspicious activities in order to help eradicate acts of terrorism from society. The CCPO has also directed Lahore police officers to discharge their official duties with dedication and commitment besides maintaining an advanced state of preparedness to meet any untoward situation effectively.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Punjab Tariq Saleem Dogar has directed all the field officers to take necessary measures on war footings for dealing effectively with the challenge of maintenance of law & order. He further directed that the security plans should be prepared in line with the ground realities of the officers’ respective areas.

He was presiding over a high level meeting held at Central Police Office on Friday. The meeting was also attended by high ranking officers of the police department. The meeting reviewed the security arrangements being implemented for prevention of terrorist activities. The meeting also took certain important decisions. It was decided in the meeting that the security arrangements for the protection of all important buildings and installations should be carried out according to the Standing Operational Procedure (SOP) and the senior police officers should personally ensure that SOP was being implemented in letter and spirit.

They should conduct surprise checking of security cameras and control rooms installed in the big cities of the province to ensure that these were in complete working order. It was also decided that the police officers would also carry out the checking of security staff of other departments deployed for the safety of their buildings and installations.

Meanwhile, they will also ensure the availability of fire extinguishers, first aid boxes and all such articles related to emergency in these buildings. The police as well as private personnel deputed for security will be briefed by the police officers.

The police officers were urged to evolve an effective mechanism on the basis of their professional expertise to come up with the prevailing situation.

They were also asked to keep a vigilant eye on the movements of suspected persons by keeping a close contact with the representatives of traders, transporters and managements of the hotels and inns.
