Kasab’s lawyer calls for unearthing ‘Indian link’
NEW DELHI: Ajmal Kasab’s lawyer has called for unearthing an Indian link into the attacks as the special court on Tuesday said Kasab’s statement was not a confession but an admission of guilt.
While pleading guilty on Monday in a special court in Mumbai, Kasab said he was helped by an Indian national Abu Zundal in Karachi who taught him and his accomplices Hindi. Lawyer Abbas Kazmi asked, “When the entire world is screaming about the Indian involvement in the attack, why is the police and prosecution denying it? Kasab has told the court that an Indian man saw them off from Karachi. Why are the police not investigating it?” “If you believe Kasab’s statement, then you’ll h ave to believe what he says about the Indian involvement also. You should not pick and choose,” he added. Separately, Kasab’s trial was adjourned on Tuesday to give the prosecution more time to respond to his dramatic confession that he participated in the carnage. iftikhar gilani http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...2009_pg7_4 |
