Islamabad: 3,000 flats to be built for capital police
* IGP says 1,000 police personnel to be selected for haj through raffle
ISLAMABAD: Three thousand residential flats will be constructed at the Police Lines Headquarters and 1,000 personnel of Islamabad police will be selected for Haj through draw to boost their morale. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Kaleem Imam said this during a briefing arranged for the personnel at the National Library here on Monday. The police welfare projects will be completed on priority to enhance the performance of the force, the IGP said, adding that health insurance for personnel would also be ensured. He directed the force to be always polite to the public during checking at pickets. DIG operations Bin Yamin, SSP Operations Tahir Alam Khan, SP City Sajid Kiani, SP Rural Tahir Ayub, SP Investigation Saqib Sultan, DSPs, SHOs, Moharrars and the personnel posted at the pickets set up in different areas of the capital attended the briefing. Kaleem admired the performance of the force and said that welfare projects were being launched to improve their performance and boost their morale. He said an eight-hour shift system was being introduced for better police performance. Kaleem said that residential plots would also be arranged for the police in the PHA Housing Colony. He said IGP cash award would be awarded for best performance. On this occasion, the IGP announced a cash reward of Rs 30,000 for both officers and the low-ranking staff. He also urged his force to avoid corruption and perform their duty with commitment, devotion, dedication and honesty and warned that a strict disciplinary action would be taken if any official indulged in corruption. , Operations, Tahir Alam directed his force to first salute the citizens before checking their vehicles at the pickets. He also advised them to only check suspected persons.
