Govt announces 50pc subsidy to explore halal market for export
KARACHI: The government has announced a 50 per cent subsidy in order to enable businessmen and producers to explore the Halal market which offers a huge potential to Pakistani products, said Syed Mohibullah Shah, Chief Executive of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).
Messe Pakistan organised a conference at a local hotel the other day to mark the first Global Halal Expo in collaboration with International Halal Integrity Alliance of Malaysia and with the support of Pakistani ministries to emphasise the concept of Halal in Pakistan. Managing Director of Messe Pakistan Asad Sajjad said halal is not just restricted to food but is a lifestyle. He highlighted that halal means what is permissible in Islam and has a direct impact on how products and services should be financed, sourced, produced, processed, distributed, stored, sold and consumed. “More consumers are buying products certified as halal. This makes it a food market worth $632 billion as per latest research by the World Halal Forum.” He said that if Pakistani products are exported with certified halal label the exporters will be able to target 1.7 billion customers. http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=190550 |
