Islamabad: Progress on development work slows down in capital
Muhammad Anis
The progress of work on various development works and feasibility studies by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been slowed down. The sources said that there had been nil progress on projects like F-9 Park, studies on water situation and future requirements of electricity for Islamabad, extension of Blue Area. In view of rapid development in Islamabad in shape of upcoming high-rise buildings and new sectors, some comprehensive plans would be required to meet requirements of water and electricity. For example, the authority has not been able to ensure electricity upto 8 MW for a mega project of ‘The Centaurus’ in Sector F-8. Similarly, the civic body was also considering to give a second thought to already reviewed master plan of Islamabad. The authority had already had a consultant to hold study on mass transit plan for twin cities. The sources said the situation had arisen following departure of a senior official from Project Management Office (PMO). Director PMO Dr Faisal Awan who was working on various projects had proceeded on three-month leave. A senior official of CDA said that initially Director Urban Planning Sarwar Sindhu would be assigned some work on which there is no progress during the last few months. http://www.pakrealestatetimes.com/newthread.php?fid=4 |
