CM not satisfied with PESRC’s performance

LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has made the dean of the Institute of Public Health (IPH), Professor Shakeela Zaman, an officer on special duty (OSD) for not playing an effective role in the Provincial Epidemic Surveillance and Response Cell (PESRC).

The CM had constituted the PESRC for checking epidemics and providing immediate treatment facilities to patients, but the CM expressed his “dissatisfaction” over the institute’s performance and ordered the health secretary to take stern action against those responsible.

Moreover, Health Secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad directed the convener of the PESRC, Dr Junaid Qureshi, Epidemic Disease Specialist Dr Farkhanda Kokab, and Bacteriologist Dr Zarafshan Tahir to visit the flood-hit districts and prepare a professional report within 48 hours.
