Rawalpindi Administration Failed to Start Work on Dilapidated Roads
The City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR) has failed to start the repair work on the dilapidated roads connecting Murree with other parts of the city. Despite having funds of Rs250 million, CDGR failed to make an alternate route during the construction of metro bus project. The Rawalpindi Administration has also not focused on the potholes visible on Tipu Road, Liaquat Road, Asghar Mall Road, Khana Road, Rawal Road, 5th Road, Sadiqabad Road, Raja Bazar, College Road and various other parts of the city. These stretches are being problematic for motorists, as they face traffic jams several times a day. The residents of the area also complained that the government collected heavy taxes from them but provided no facilities in return. They termed it as a serious negligence of CDGR. The residents further said that the people are facing numerous problems but neither the ruling party, nor the administration take the matter seriously. It takes people half an hour to travel between Bohar Bazaar and College Road, as the road is not in good condition. It is the duty of local administration to improve the condition of roads but it had apparently turned a blind eye on this issue. The local administration was too busy closing the roads connecting Rawalpindi with Islamabad.
