Islamabad: ICT police to recruit young ex-servicemen
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police will recruit physically fit ex-servicemen below 40 to help them fight crime and maintain law and order in the capital, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Kaleem Imam here on Friday.
“We want that ex-servicemen should join the Bomb Disposal Squad and intelligence network of the capital police. One hundred ex-servicemen would be recruited within next 30 days to overcome understaffing in the police department,” Kaleem said in an exclusive interview with APP. He said there was shortage of 800 constables and the ICT police had sought approval to start the recruitment process. The IGP said that the policemen deputed on various special duties had been also been withdrawn. He said they needed 952 policemen for the five proposed police stations in the capital. In order to ensure peace in the city, we have started a combing operation in the slums and erected police pickets there, he added. He said beat system, headed by an officer of ASI rank, had also been introduced in various areas of the capital. app http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp...009_pg11_4 |
