Construction Work on PU Link Road Begins

The Urban Development Wing of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has initiated the construction work on the road linking Wahdat Road, Iqbal Town and Mustafa Town directly with Canal Road at Jinnah Hospital underpass point.

The construction machinery has been shifted to the site and engineering officials have started their work over there. Last month, University of the Punjab (PU) Syndicate had issued approval to give the varsity land measuring 305 kanals to LDA under an agreement for construction of the road. The approval was issued after it was informed that the proposed project will benefit the university in attaining financial resources of about Rs6 billion during the next 10 years through commercialisation of the road.

As per officials, since the project was dire need of the hour, the LDA decided to construct the road at the cost of Rs1.7 billion. It is expected that road will benefit a huge population and can save fuel, time and energy.
