‘Population increasing too rapidly for country’s resources’
LAHORE: A United Nations representative in Pakistan on Population Fund Dr Daniel Baker called on Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Saturday, apprising him of the Population Fund Programme’s details. The chief minister said Pakistan’s population was increasing rapidly and national resources would become insufficient to meet the population’s demands within a few years. He said seminars should be arranged to make people aware of the issue, adding that there was a need to devise an effective plan to check the high rate of population growth. He said the fund should pay attention to expanding the scope of its activities in rural areas. staff report
