Lahore: Property dealers asked to keep record of tenants
CAPITAL City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Pervez Rathore has said that in the current situation, those property dealers and owners of hotels and guest houses who do not keep record of their new tenants will be prosecuted whereas departmental action will also be taken against the concerned SHO of the area.

He said that continuous vigilance was not only need of the hour but also a national obligation. In an official communiquÈ, CCPO directed the divisional SPs to ensure property dealers of their areas to keep complete record of new tenants and no room should be rented to any new comer without verifying original computerized identity card of the person concerned by the owners of the hotels and guest houses. He said property dealers and owners should not strike any deal regarding any property or with any tenant without proper I.D card verification. He said cooperation of the citizens was highly essential with regard to eradicating all heinous crimes, including terrorism, as apparently insignificant information provided by the people could lead to stoppage of a major crime.

The CCPO said that criminal elements could be located through their suspicious activities and could be pinpointed by paying necessary attention to the surroundings. He further directed the divisional SPs to personally supervise patrolling in the city and conduct surprise visits to ascertain efficiency of the deputed police officials whose reports should be submitted to him daily. He also directed the officers to utilise all their energies to achieve their target of arresting Proclaimed Offenders, Court Absconders, Drug Pushers, Gamblers and brothels’ runners in the city and take stringent action against them. He also underlined the need to promote community policing and keep close liaison with the notables of the area for this purpose. He directed arresting of different criminal gangs which were still at large. The CCPO directed immediate and timely action on any information received from the citizens and warned that strict action would be taken against any police official showing laxity and dereliction of duty in this regard.

crackdown against suspects: Inspector General of Police Punjab Tariq Saleem Dogar has directed all the field police officers to expedite crackdown against the suspected persons staying at different places or involved in anti-social activities.

In an official communiquÈ on Sunday, the IG asked to further beef up security and put the police on high alert across the province, especially in Lahore, by deploying additional police force at sensitive points.

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IG) Tariq Saleem Dogar has also directed all the regional police officers, range deputy inspector generals and district police officers to take special measures to cope with any untoward incident. He directed the officials to deploy policemen in plainclothes at bus stops, markets, cinemas, hotels, and business and entertainment centres across the province. Policemen must have wireless phones, weapons, mobile scanners, metal detectors and explosive detectors, he said. He stressed the need for extensive patrolling in Lahore and directed the officials to pay special attention to the security at mosques and Madrassas.

The number of police cops has been increased at sensitive places including Airport, Railway Station, Punjab Assembly Building, Punjab Civil Secretariat and at foreign offices. The important buildings, bus stands, five-star hotels, parking lots and residences of foreigners have been declared sensitive places.

Man killed as pistol goes off: A father of two was killed when his own pistol accidentally went off while cleaning it at his house in Yuhanna Abad, an area in Ghaziabad Police Station on Sunday.

Victim John Parvez was cleaning his pistol in a room of his house when there was no electricity. According to the police, he asked his wife Saba to make tea for him and he went on cleaning the pistol. After listening to the bullet shot, his wife went into the room and saw her husband severely injured after being hit to his chest, the police said.

His family members rushed him to the General Hospital where he succumbed to his injury. Police said that they found the pistol dismantled at the crime scene. They said that the legal heirs of the deceased had given their written statement that it was an accidental death and they did not want any action against anyone.
