CDA asked to launch public transport facility
ISLAMABAD - Provision of decent public transport facility to the residents of the capital is the top priority of the prime minister’s task force which has directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to launch the project at the earliest with the assistance of the private sector. This was stated by Prime Minister’s Task Force on Islamabad Chairman Faisal Sakhi Butt, while addressing the newly elected office bearers of Traders’ Welfare Association in E-11 Markaz. He said the ever-increasing complexity of the civic and development problems of the city calls for some out-of-the-box solution and some brave decisions would have to be taken to resolve these chronic issues. Butt said the development projects worth billions of rupees had been executed without consulting the residents of the city and other stakeholders. He said now the people would have their say in the decision-making process and the development projects would be executed taking the residents onboard. CDA to increase commercial centres: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Engineer Farkhand Iqbal on Wednesday said traders were part and parcel of national development and the CDA would take them along in the future initiatives to further increase business activities in the federal capital. He said this during the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected office bearers of Traders Welfare Association in E-11 Markaz. He said the CDA had decided to increase commercial centres in Islamabad and, for this purpose, the extension of Blue Area had already been approved by the civic agency’s board which would have state-of-the-art plazas in line with the future requirements, adding that the CDA was also focusing on development of the small markets in the city. |
