ISLAMABAD - Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Maroof Afzal has stressed upon need of timely completion of Kashmir Highway Project without compromising on quality and standard of work.
During his visit to Kashmir Highway to review the ongoing development and expansion work, the CDA Chairman particularly inspected the progress on six under-constructed bridges, said a press release issued here Sunday. The chairman, on the occasion, directed the Project Director to expedite construction work of the six bridges on this vital inter-provincial highway. He said the landscaping and beautification work should also be carried out simultaneously to save time, adding, alternative passages should be provided to commuters with installed signboards to maintain smooth and hazard free flow of traffic during the construction work. The chairman was informed by the Project Director that keeping in view the significance of Kashmir Highway, the construction and expansion work was being carried out expeditiously. “Two out of six bridges have been completed while the construction work for the bridge over the railway line has also been initiated after getting designs from Pakistan Railways,” he added. The chairman was further told that two bridges along south of Kashmir Highway including one opposite to CDA weekly bazaar and the other opposite to CDA MPO Directorate had been completed while the bridges in the north were at the verge of completion. He was also informed that the recent spells of rain had slowed the pace of work but enthusiastic efforts were underway to ensure in time completion of the construction and expansion work on Kashmir Highway. |
