Rawalpindi Ring Road Project Set to Be Completed in One Year

RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha paid a visit to the Rawalpindi Ring Road project site at Khasaleha Khurd on a Sunday to assess the project's progress. During the briefing, Mr. Chattha shared that the 38.3-kilometer Rawalpindi Ring Road will feature five interchanges at Banth, Chak Beli Khan, Adiala Road, Chakri Road, and Thalian.

The project also includes the construction of a railway bridge, five flyovers, and 21 small underpasses. It's noteworthy that construction had already commenced on a section of the project near Chakri Road, where the land was already in possession of the district administration. However, land acquisition for other segments is yet to begin.

In his address to the group, Commissioner Chattha expressed his satisfaction with the rapid progress of the project and assured that it would be completed within one year. He also revealed plans for an industrial area alongside the Ring Road, underscoring its positive impact on the local economy and employment opportunities.

The Commissioner stressed the pivotal importance of the Rawalpindi Ring Road project for regional development and its substantial enhancement of public transportation options. He further mentioned that revenue department officials were working in various shifts. A comprehensive land validation survey is currently underway, as confirmed by a senior official from the district administration, and it is expected to expedite land acquisition. The provincial government is anticipated to release Rs. 4 billion for the project shortly.

Furthermore, the contractor has initiated work on a 10-kilometer stretch of land already under administrative authority. To align with the interim provincial government's objective of completing the project within a year, the divisional administration has encouraged the contractor to expedite project progress.
