PM to open motorway link road in Chakwal today
ISLAMABAD: Sticking to his policy of devoting full attention to development activities, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will inaugurate a link road with the motorway at Chakwal today (Monday). Nawaz Sharif is inaugurating the development project when the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan is out to shut down his hometown, Lahore, by blocking roads and arteries of the city. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz has given a green signal to upgrade Talagang that will become a district. The announcement pertaining to the upgrading of the city could also be made today. The prime minister will arrive along with some federal ministers and address a gathering in the city. It will be his second visit to Chakwal in less than six months. The sources told ‘The News’ that the government had decided to disregard the negative activities of the PTI and Imran Khan and in the meanwhile development activities would keep getting the attention of the government. The schedule of the projects would continue to be the focus of attention of the administration, the sources said. The sources said that the government had also made up its mind to have a dialogue with the PTI but the process will continue on a natural pace as no undue haste or urgency will be displayed in the wake of PTI and Imran Khan’s threats. “The government is of the view that carrot and stick formula will not be applicable to the political talks. It shows immaturity of the PTI,” the sources maintained. The government will inaugurate two mega projects next month having far-reaching impact on the economy of different areas. The Metro Bus Service and Lahore-Karachi Motorway will be inaugurated next month. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will also visit the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Azad Kashmir later this month where he will announce certain development projects, the sources added. |
